A plate full of Wingers Sticky Fingers and a side of ranch.

Wingers Sticky Fingers

The key to making these taste just like the restaurant version is to make the sauce ahead of time. It doesn’t have to be long before, but at least an hour or two before you sit down to eat.

There’s something about homemade vanilla ice cream that tastes so much better than store-bought. Is it the labor of love that went into this icy dessert or the building anticipation as you wait for it to freeze before scooping? Either way, this vanilla ice cream recipe is going to become as huge of a hit in your house as it is in ours!

A bowl of homemade vanilla ice cream and a spoon.

This vanilla ice cream recipe PROMISES a silky smooth, ultra creamy, richly vanilla flavored ice cream.

One reader left a comment saying, “I’ve made this recipe several times now and each time feels like a little miracle! I’ve had fun with different mix ins, from oreo’s to fresh raspberries and chocolate chips. It’s a bit dangerous to know how to make ice cream THIS GOOD, that turns out even better than the local favorite go-to!!”

It goes without saying that I’ve been a bit obsessed with all things German Chocolate Cake. I’ve been testing all sorts of chocolate recipes. The truth is, I just want to slather the buttery coconut pecan frosting on top of everything! It’s my weakness! I love it so much.

I’m sharing a chocolate mousse filled German chocolate cupcake recipe very soon. You’ll definitely want to make them! Even thinking about them sends me into a spiral of never ending chocolate cravings.

Happy Wednesday!

We had another busy week/weekend, as I’m sure most of you did too. My 5 year old started soccer, so we had a lot of fun watching him play. The poor kids were running around for 2 hours (they have a practice and then a scrimmage) in 95° weather! It was the highlight of our weekend.

I love being a soccer mom! It’s so fun!

Also spent 4.5 hours in a salon chair getting my hair colored (yes, it literally took that long). One difficult aspect about moving is finding a new hairdresser. I sound so vain, but it’s the truth! Which brings me to a very important question: how much do you tip your hair dresser?! After spending a pretty penny for a cut and color it’s hard to fork out much more for a tip. So tell me in the comments, what do YOU do?

Instead of attending church on Sunday, we watched it on TV. It’s one of our favorite weekends of the year. As per tradition, I made a feast of delicious foods (recipes I’ll be sharing soon) and also made sticky buns. They were so yummy! We really loved staying in our comfortable clothes allll day long!

In case you missed it, I did a round up featuring our favorite pumpkin recipes you should make this fall.

This story is so amazing. A simple college game day sign that brought in over $200k.

Mint colored shoes, yes please!

I go through a decent amount of fresh herbs, and to prevent waste I’ve decided I need to start freezing them.

I’ve been on a big puzzle kick recently. Doing puzzles is so relaxing and re-energizing. I found this one of Central Park and this autumn puzzle. I’m totally smitten. However, I ended up purchasing this Christmas one. I’m going to wrap it and let my son open it December 1st. It’ll be something we can work on throughout the month leading up to the holiday!

Not to mention it tastes AMAZING! In fact, my husband made multiple comments saying, “These are by far the best protein balls you’ve ever made.”

It doesn’t stop there. He continued with:

“These are so good, I eat them as dessert.”

“When are you making more of those chocolate peanut butter protein balls?”

“Are you planning on posting them to your blog? Because you should. I really like them.”

And last but not least, Sunday night we sat down to eat a slice of leftover chocolate birthday cake and my husband turned down the cake because he’d rather eat one of these protein balls. You guys!! I was stunned.

It’s October! My favorite month of the year. The weather is sheer perfection; the temperature begins to drop and the leaves change colors. It’s refreshing to step outside and realize you need a light jacket to beat the chill in the air. Or perhaps when you take a deep breath and you can smell autumn in the air. It’s a beautiful thing.

And while I hope you’re experiencing that, we’ve said adios to those glorious October days. It’s still 90° in Texas and our long sleeve shirts and long pants are buried in our closets.

Thank goodness I have pumpkin puree and all the fall spices to bake with. If I can’t experience true fall weather, then I will bake until my house smells of everything pumpkin and all the warm autumn spices!

Join me in the kitchen by making some of my favorite pumpkin recipes.

A photo collage of 4 delicious pumpkin recipes: pumpkin cake, pumpkin bread, pumpkin cookies, and pumpkin pancakes.

The best time of year is when we can officially start baking all the pumpkin things! I’m obsessed with pumpkin season and I have a lot of pumpkin recipes to prove it. My pumpkin scones are a huge favorite around here as are my pumpkin bars.

But I know you might be reading this thinking, “I don’t need to try this pumpkin cake, I already have a really good recipe.” THINK AGAIN!

This pumpkin cake has everything you could possibly want: it’s moist! Yes, I said moist.. that’s the only way to describe it. 😉 It has the perfect crumb and texture to it. I mean, it’s so so tender. And guess what, this pumpkin cake is made from scratch!

Hello hello! Happy Wednesday!

I’ve officially started Christmas shopping. Have you?? We are heading to my sisters wedding in a few weeks and I’m going to take all of my extended families gifts with me to avoid paying shipping. Haha, am I totally crazy or what?! I realize this is absolutely ridiculous but for some reason I’m sticking with it. I’ve text everyone we are assigned to give to, and I told them I need ideas ASAP. I hope that’s not tacky, but when it comes to gift giving I’m all for giving someone something they want.

Speaking of gift giving, would you be interested in seeing a “gift guide” on Salt & Baker? I’ve thought about doing a foodie related gift guide that includes my favorite kitchen items I use weekly. However, I’m open to doing other topics and categories as well. I would love to know your thoughts! Leave a comment below or send me an email. (I read every email, by the way! I love hearing from all of you).
