This Christmas Crack recipe is one of our favorite holiday goodies! We love to give (and receive) this delicious treat. (It’s the perfect gift to give as neighbor gifts).

If you’ve never had Christmas Crack before let me describe it for you, there are 3 delicious layers. The bottom layer is a crisp salty saltine cracker that’s topped with a sweet buttery caramel toffee. Sitting atop the toffee is a thin layer of smooth chocolate. This holiday treat satisfies the sweet and salty lovers, it’s a huge hit with everyone!

We are keeping it simple by using just 5 basic ingredients to make this Christmas Crack recipe.

Indian food is a major weakness of mine. The flavors of Indian food are OUT OF THIS WORLD! While yes, some foods can be quite spicy, this Indian Butter Chicken recipe strikes the perfect balance between flavor and spice. LOTS of flavor with a small hint of heat.

Indian Butter Chicken atop of bed of rice.

Back in my hometown, there’s an authentic Indian restaurant called Tandoori. When I’d visit home it was one of my favorite places to go and eat. Their Indian food is incredible! My favorite entree on their menu is the butter chicken. Gah! It’s so so good. One bite of it and you’ll want to swim in the sauce. I mean, their recipe is 100% perfection.

I’m pleased to report that this Indian butter chicken recipe is a copycat recipe of my favorite Indian restaurants signature dish!

Let me show you how to make it.

I’ve been making this Small Batch Muddy Buddies recipe for years! Whenever my family I want a quick treat, I always make muddy buddies! My recipe features Chex cereal that is generously coated in a smooth peanut butter and chocolate mixture then topped with a skiff of powdered sugar (more details below). Trust me when I say this recipe tastes a million times better than the classic muddy buddy recipe everyone and their dog makes.

A bowl of muddy buddies surrounded by purple flowers.

Why this is the best muddy buddies recipe

  1. I use milk chocolate chips rather than semi-sweet. I never loved the taste of muddy buddies when made with semi-sweet chocolate. Make the simple substitution of milk chocolate chips and you’ll take this recipe up 10 notches.
  2. The Chex cereal is generously COATED in the peanut butter and chocolate mixture. Why do people make muddy buddies that have little to no chocolate mixture on the cereal? It doesn’t make sense to me at all. I’ve spent a lot of time perfecting the ratios in this recipe, and I can honestly say this is THE BEST recipe for muddy buddies you’ll ever find.
  3. I use the right amount of powdered sugar. Too much powdered sugar will ruin the recipe. In fact, if you’re heavy handed with the powdered sugar you’ll end up with overly white muddy buddies that taste like nothing but pure sugar. It’s true. If you use too much powdered sugar you’ll mask the peanut butter and chocolate flavor. You want just enough powdered sugar to coat the cereal and cover the chocolate and that’s it.
  4. Muddy Buddy chunks. The ratio of chocolate + peanut butter to the Chex cereal is spot on. Because there’s a lot of chocolate and not as much cereal, you’ll get each cereal piece coated in chocolate. Some of the chocolate will clumpy together with the cereal. <– If you get this you’re LUCKY! These pieces are my favorite!

It’ll be hard to eat plain ole cashews after tasting these Rosemary Roasted Cashews.

This recipe features everything you could want in a snack: a hint of salt from the salted cashews, a dash of sweet (thanks to the brown sugar), a delicate buttery flavor (hello melted butter!), a small kick of heat (thanks to the cayenne), and it’s all rounded off with the gentle flavor of fresh rosemary.

A plate full of Rosemary Roasted Cashews.

It’s a very, very beautiful taste.

But don’t trust my word for it, make it and see for yourself!

It’s super easy. The whole recipe takes a solid 13 minutes to complete, 15 minutes if you count dish duty.

Happy Wednesday! How was your Thanksgiving? Does anyone have any exciting stories to share? Feel free to share them in the comments below!

We have a baby grinch in our house… Will decided to eat an ornament over the weekend. 😱😳

Luckily he didn’t swallow any of the pieces! But gosh the little guy gave me a heart attack! Alex (my husband) acted quick and practically shoved his fingers down Williams throat to get everything out. Gah! The little kid is so cute, but he realllllllly keeps us on our toes.

A red and gold Christmas tree ornament.

Do you follow me on Instagram? I showed you how to make my cinnamon rolls recipe on stories. I received a lot of questions and comments, which is wonderful! Thank you for following along, asking questions, and making my recipes. It means the world to me!

If you have a recipe request you’d like to see me make on stories, send me a DM, email, or comment on this blog post and I’ll be sure to make the recipe for you on Instagram!

LOTS of new recipes went up over the past 2 weeks. In case you missed any, they’re all right here…

Recent Recipes

Gingerbread Whoopie Pies – these cookies are AMAZING!!!! The pictures are definitely average and they don’t showcase the deliciousness to their fullest. But I’m telling you, these cookies are phenomenal.

Dinner Rolls – I shared my favorite dinner rolls recipe! They’re a staple for this time of year.

2019 Gift Guide – my most loved and most used kitchen tools. A great resource to come back to if you need gift ideas for yourself or others.

Turtle Cookies – a chocolate cookie rolled in crushed pecans, then filled with warm caramel. I went a bit over-the-top and drizzled chocolate on them as well. 😋 This is like the ultimate holiday type cookie (in my book).

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies – you guys, I don’t love raisins. It’s true. I think they’re weird. These cookies on the other hand, THE BEST.

Sweet Potato Hummus – I know you have some left over sweet potatoes in your fridge. Use them to make this! It’s so good, and healthy.

Best EVER German Chocolate Cupcakes – no words. I literally crave these all the time. Thank goodness I’m too busy baking and trying new recipes, otherwise I’d probably make these at least 2x/month. These cupcakes are filled with a whipped chocolate type mousse, and then topped with a spoonful of toasted pecan frosting.

Favorite Finds

Haha! This 82 year old is my hero.

Trying to convince my husband we need a jogging stroller (this is the one I have my eye on)… the sidewalks in Houston are anything but level.

Can I just have all the Target wrapping paper, please?!

Remember Twinkies? Yeah, those overly sugar treats you always wanted in your lunch box. Turns out Twinkies is going to be a cereal.

A great read if you’re looking to reduce toy clutter.

Some crazy Black Friday stories.

Screen time is increasing in young kids. I’ve set limits with my 5 year old, we try and keep it to the weekend and a few Mario kart games throughout the week. What do you do? I’d love to know what has/hasn’t worked for you.

I will do my best to contain my excitement, but I’m not lying when I say “These are THE BEST German Chocolate Cupcakes you’ll ever have!” The chocolate cake is so moist and tender; the toasted coconut pecan frosting has a perfect consistency, not too stiff and not too runny. Also, we use toasted coconut and toasted pecans for the frosting which makes a big difference. Last but not least, we remove the core of the cupcake and fill it with a whipped chocolate mousse. I mean, come on, what could be better than that?

A German Chocolate cupcake filled with a chocolate mousse and topped with a coconut pecan frosting.

You guys, I get excited over the littlest things, chocolate being one of them. And when I say chocolate, I mean making delicious recipes that have chocolate in them.

I’ve had a major obsession with chocolate cake recently, like this Texas sheet cake that practically melts in your mouth, basic chocolate cupcakes topped with an American chocolate buttercream, and how about these chocolate crinkle cookies and last but not least a long time reader favorite — double chocolate chip cookies.

I’ve officially dubbed myself the ‘chocolate queen’.

Sweet Potato Hummus. It sounds delicious doesn’t it?! Well I’m here to tell you, IT IS! Traditional hummus recipes include chickpeas (or garbanzo beans), and this recipe has just that. You can taste the sweet and subtle sweet potato flavors, but it’s accompanied by the subtle after flavor of the garlic, tahini, and the chickpeas. It’s a beautiful merriment of flavors that will quickly become a staple in your home, as it has in ours.
A cracker dipping into Sweet Potato Hummus.

I’m always on the hunt for healthy and easy snack recipes so I thought a hummus would be perfect; plus sweet potatoes are on major sale at my local grocery store so the timing was perfect.

This recipe comes together quickly, effortlessly, and it only requires a few ingredients.

A Soft Oatmeal Raisin Cookie surrounded by oats and raisins.

Truth: I’ve never really loved oatmeal raisin cookies. Ironically they’re my mom’s favorite cookie of all time but she never made them because my siblings and I weren’t fond of the raisins.

Everything changed the day I made these cookies.

It sounds incredibly dramatic but it’s TRUE!

I took a bite into these chewy oatmeal raisin cookies and literally thought to myself, “I actually like oatmeal raisin cookies! Why can’t all recipes taste like this?!”

If you’re on the fence about oatmeal raisin cookies do me a favor and give them one last try! Use this recipe and be completely smitten.
