A Sweeter Wednesday

Happy Wednesday!

We had another busy week/weekend, as I’m sure most of you did too. My 5 year old started soccer, so we had a lot of fun watching him play. The poor kids were running around for 2 hours (they have a practice and then a scrimmage) in 95° weather! It was the highlight of our weekend.

I love being a soccer mom! It’s so fun!

Also spent 4.5 hours in a salon chair getting my hair colored (yes, it literally took that long). One difficult aspect about moving is finding a new hairdresser. I sound so vain, but it’s the truth! Which brings me to a very important question: how much do you tip your hair dresser?! After spending a pretty penny for a cut and color it’s hard to fork out much more for a tip. So tell me in the comments, what do YOU do?

Instead of attending church on Sunday, we watched it on TV. It’s one of our favorite weekends of the year. As per tradition, I made a feast of delicious foods (recipes I’ll be sharing soon) and also made sticky buns. They were so yummy! We really loved staying in our comfortable clothes allll day long!

This story is so amazing. A simple college game day sign that brought in over $200k.

Totally cried when I watched this.

I’ve been on a big puzzle kick recently. Doing puzzles is so relaxing and re-energizing. I found this one of Central Park and this autumn puzzle. I’m totally smitten. However, I ended up purchasing this Christmas one. I’m going to wrap it and let my son open it December 1st. It’ll be something we can work on throughout the month leading up to the holiday!

This dutch apple pie looks amazing!

  1. I hear you on the hair stylist. We just moved too and I haven’t found one… It’s been 4 months… You know I generally tip $20ish, it’s about 15% normally. If it’s really a pricey place then I shouldn’t be going there. You either can afford it or you can’t. Ya know? I’m not a model and I have far more important (and fun!) things to spend my money on. To that end since I haven’t found anyone I’m excited about in my area, I’m totally going to try and color at home….there look to be some good (decent) brands out there now.

    • $20 sounds like a great number to tip. I tried researching hair salons that weren’t high end, so I went to a place that had good reviews, but gosh! It was still over $200 for the service, which is crazy.
I’m too scared to color my own hair though… you’re much braver than I am!

  2. I always tip at least 20% and always give a little extra at Christmas in addition to a small gift at that time.

    • 20% sounds good. I do more around 10% because that ends up being a $20 tip. I’d be happy with an extra $20!
