Why This Recipe Works

  • No churn Cookie Monster ice cream. No ice cream machine needed! All you need is a bowl and an electric mixer to make this delicious blue ice cream.
  • Monster cookie ice cream. The bold blue base color will remind you of our favorite Cookie Monster!

Ingredient Notes

Cookie Monster Ice Cream ingredients on a white marble background: ingredients include Oreos, chocolate chip cookies, vanilla, heavy cream, and sweetened condensed milk.
  • Heavy Cream: Make sure the heavy cream (aka heavy whipping cream) is cold before whipping it up. This will help it freeze up better.
  • Sweetened Condensed Milk: This is the way we are sweetening the ice cream. It will keep the Cookie Monster ice cream mixture sweet while not creating ice crystals since this is a no church ice cream recipe.
  • Blue Food Coloring: I use blue gel food coloring.
  • Vanilla Extract: The Cookie Monster ice cream flavor is just vanilla with the added cookie chunks. Adding the vanilla extract will give us that vanilla ice cream base flavor.
  • Chocolate Chip Cookies: You’ll definitely want the crunchier chips ahoy cookies or crunchy chocolate chip cookies (doesn’t have to be chips ahoy brand) because the crunchy texture holds up with the ice cream better.
  • Oreo Cookies: Roughly chop the Oreos with the chocolate chip cookies. You want the chunks!

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Whip the cream. Add 2 cups cold heavy cream, 1 tsp vanilla extract, and blue food coloring to the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the whisk attachment. Beat for 2-3 minutes or until stiff peaks form.
  2. Add sweetened condensed milk. Add in one 14 oz can of sweetened condensed milk to the whipped cream. Gently fold in using a rubber spatula.

  1. Fold in the chopped cookies. Add in the chopped chocolate chip cookies and chopped Oreo cookies. Gently fold in until combined.
  2. Freeze. Transfer the Cookie Monster ice cream to a freezer-safe contain and top with additional chocolate chip cookie pieces and chunks of Oreos. Cover with plastic wrap and freeze for 4-6 hours. Serve cold in bowls with a drizzle of hot fudge or in ice cream cones.

Recipe Tips

Chill your mixing bowl prior to adding the cream for best results. If you don’t have a stand mixer, you can use a large bowl and an electric mixer.

If you don’t love the crunchy cookie texture, you can use my Edible Cookie Dough Bites recipe and add chocolate chip cookie dough pieces instead (still add in the chopped Oreos!).

Cookie Monster would definitely approve of serving his favorite Cookie Monster ice cream scooped between two chocolate chip cookies for the ultimate Cookie Monster ice cream sandwich — fit for any Sesame Street party!

Make Ahead, Storing, and Freezing

You’ll want to make this blue Cookie Monster ice cream ahead of time because it needs time to chill in the freezer to become firm. But you don’t have to worry about preparing an ice cream machine since this is a no-churn ice cream recipe.

Store the homemade Cookie Monster ice cream in a freezer-safe container in the freezer. Using an airtight container will reduce the risk of freezer burn. You can use a loaf pan if you don’t have a special ice cream container. It will keep for up to 2 months. Serve frozen.
